Scimplify just raised for the part of AI that needs a factory

A $25 million strategic round for specialty chemicals says the industrial AI trade is moving past copilots and straight into the supply chain.

If you want to know where AI money gets serious, look for the founders who have to ship atoms. Scimplify just raised a $25 million strategic round led by Hitachi Ventures, with Henkel and Teknor Apex joining as investors. That is not tourist capital. That is the kind of check you write when you would like your supplier to be very real.

The public story is simple enough: Scimplify develops and manufactures specialty chemicals and critical materials, and says its AI platform, Scinode, helps match customer requirements to production routes, factories, quality controls, and regulatory constraints. In other words, it is trying to make a messy industrial search problem behave like software, while never forgetting that the molecule still has to exist when the meeting ends.

The better tell is who showed up to the round. Strategic investors from the customer side usually mean the product is being judged less like an experiment and more like infrastructure with a purchase order attached. TechCrunch also reports the round follows a $40 million Series B in March 2025, when the company said it was valued at about $150 million post money. This time, the company declined to disclose valuation, though TechCrunch reports it at $250 million after the new financing. The tea leaves say customers and investors alike want alternatives to China-heavy supply chains, especially in semiconductors, energy, and defense.

There is something almost soothing about this. After two years of software insisting it can do everything, here comes a company raising real money to do one very inconvenient thing faster: turn chemistry into supply. Darling reader, the age of AI is still going to need solvents.
