Scimplify just priced geopolitical chemistry at $250 million

Hitachi Ventures led a $25 million strategic round into Scimplify, which is what happens when supply-chain anxiety meets a chemical manufacturer that can say "AI agents" with a straight face.

Founders love to say they are building picks and shovels. Scimplify has gone one layer lower and chosen molecules. TechCrunch reports that the Bengaluru startup has raised a $25 million strategic round led by Hitachi Ventures, with Henkel and Teknor Apex joining in, at a reported $250 million post-money valuation. That is up from a reported $150 million after its $40 million Series B in March 2025. In other words, the cap table also believes industrial policy is now a software category.

The public record makes the thesis plain. Scimplify says it develops and manufactures specialty chemicals and advanced materials, and its site pitches the work as helping customers "find the molecule, develop the process, and manufacture it at scale" through its Scinode platform and supplier network. TechCrunch adds the sharper financial edges: about $200 million in annualized revenue run rate, more than 1,000 customers, deliveries into 40-plus countries, and a claim that some projects move from customer requirement to finished material in two months instead of 12 to 18. If those numbers hold, this is less science-fair AI and more margin-bearing logistics with lab coats.

The real gossip sits in where the money is pointed. Energy, electronics, and defense now make up roughly half of revenue, according to TechCrunch, and the company is explicitly selling an alternative to supply chains concentrated in China. That is not a cute wedge. That is a polite way of saying geopolitics has become lead generation.

There is something almost tender about the branding here. Everyone else wants AI to write your email. Scimplify wants AI agents to help coordinate rare earths, tungsten derivatives, quality requirements, and factory routing. One of these markets is crowded with demos. The other gets a strategic round from an industrial giant's venture arm. If you squint, the sheets say chemistry is having its infrastructure era, and this time the multiple comes with actual atoms.
